56 years ago, a group of Knights lead by John Y. Brady endeavored to build a pool for all people of Scituate where all community members could learn to swim and have fun as a family during the summer months. Several generations of local children have learned to swim here and have fond memories of their time at the pool as swimmers, swim team members and lifeguards. Swim lessons and summer league competitions are offered and lifeguards are provided.
The Knights of Columbus is a non-profit volunteer organization. For over 60 years the Scituate Knights of Columbus has been supporting our community through our various charity works. Some activities are public - The Carnival, Grand Prize Raffle, Golf Tournament during the week of Scituate Heritage Days, many events at St. Mary's Parish, our Tootsie Roll Drive- which enable us to give multiple scholarships each year to local high school students and support of our local youth sports and high school teams. Just as important, other support is private where families are helped, with respect and dignity, and without fanfare. We are proud to do it. We will continue to do it. It’s why we exist.
If the Knights of Columbus sounds like a group you would like to join or if you want to learn more, you can speak to any of the Council members. We would love to have you join our exceptional organization. "As a member for over 20 years, I have to say joining the Knights has been one of the greatest opportunities to work closely with my family and teach them about giving back by working alongside them." - former Grand Knight.
You may say you have never been invited to join the Knights......consider this your invitation!
We are indebted to our founders and to all in our community that have helped with donations over the years. We rely on your help as well as we do our best to keep our annual membership rate at a minimum. As we are celebrating our 55th anniversary next year, we ask for help from our community and members to make some improvements to our facility. Please speak with the Director if you are interested in making a donation. For those that are not in a financial position to contribute, there will be many opportunities to donate time, goods, or services over the next year. Please, if you have a special skill or trade just let us know you are interested… we could use your help!
Scituate Knights of Columbus Pool is Committed to Inclusion: Our community is made up of all ages and come from different backgrounds that make us stronger as a whole. We work to ensure that everyone, regardless of their ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, faith, gender, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race or sexual orientation, has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
